The Environment, Sustainability, and Leisure department enhances daily life for residents and visitors by delivering high-quality services that promote wellbeing and align with council objectives. The Assistant Finance Director (ESL) to provide exceptional financial leadership and deliver transformative impact of one of our most critical services, the Environment, Sustainability, and Leisure Department. The Council has recently insourced all their leisure services and are building a new Leisure Centre.

The role will build and maintain strategic relationships across the service and with senior leaders and Members, advising on strategic finance and planning, ensuring success in the council’s business planning processes and capital programmes. They will lead a team and drive through a culture of continuous improvement, value adding service and ensuring best value.

The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified accountant with experience of leading and developing a high performing business partnering team within a complex organisation. Previous experience of supporting areas in this service is highly desirable.
