Ledger Assistant

Ivy Rock Partners is supporting a well-established education organisation in the appointment of a Ledger Assistant to join its Accounts team on a permanent basis, an interim basis is also an option.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented finance professional to join a collaborative accounts function within a regulated environment, contributing to the smooth day-to-day operation of core financial processes.

The role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Ledger Assistant will provide administrative and operational support across the Accounts department, working closely with colleagues responsible for purchase ledger, fee ledger and wider finance activity.

The role is hands-on and varied, supporting invoice processing, VAT administration and general finance operations, while ensuring accuracy, compliance and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing administrative support across the Accounts team, including liaison with suppliers, banks and external parties
  • Assisting with purchase ledger processing, including invoices, expenses, reconciliations, filing and petty cash
  • Collating documentation to support VAT returns and related reporting
  • Supporting fee ledger processes, including cash postings and transactional updates
  • Coordinating daily tasks with colleagues to ensure efficient workflow
  • Providing office cover and supporting the team during periods of absence
  • Assisting with ad hoc finance tasks as required

About you

This role will suit someone with experience in a finance or accounts support role who enjoys working as part of a team and takes pride in delivering accurate, well-organised work.

You are likely to bring:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths
  • Experience working in a purchase ledger or accounts support environment
  • Confidence working in a busy office, managing multiple tasks and queries
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Outlook
  • Experience of automated accounting systems; Sage Line 200 experience is desirable
  • High attention to detail and a reliable, methodical approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately
