The Greater London Authority (GLA) is the centre of government for London, serving both the Mayor and the London Assembly. The Mayor of London sets the budget and is responsible for making London a better place for everyone and the Assembly holds the Mayor and Mayoral advisers to account. The GLA itself plays a key role in delivering projects across Greater London over areas including Housing, Transport, Environment, Culture, Economy and Regeneration.
We are currently recruiting for the final two roles following the expansion of the finance team. The new structure means the team are better placed to support the delivery of the amazing work the GLA does. With both roles you will be able to have a major impact across London and the people who live, work and travel there.
The Head of Financial Management has varied responsibility including oversight of business partnering, financial planning, management accounting and systems accounting. The role will lead in delivering the GLA: Mayor and the Assembly component budgets as well as ensuring the timely delivering of high quality quarterly monitoring reporting and periodic budget holder financial information. A key part of the role will be ensuring that the finance team are working closely with colleague to understand their challenges and offer value add advice to support decision making on service delivery.
To be suitable for the role you need to be a qualified accountant with proven experience of leading and developing value adding business partnering teams in large public sector organisations. Playing a lead role in delivering a complex budget process is also essential.
