Senior Accountant

The Greater London Authority (GLA) is the centre of government for London, serving both the Mayor and the London Assembly. The Mayor of London sets the budget and is responsible for making London a better place for everyone and the Assembly holds the Mayor and Mayoral advisers to account. The GLA itself plays a key role in delivering projects across Greater London over areas including Housing, Transport, Environment, Culture, Economy and Regeneration.
We are currently recruiting for several roles in the expanding finance team, so they are better placed to support the delivery of the amazing work the GLA does. With all the roles you will be able to have a major impact across London and the people who live, work and travel there.
The Senior Accountant will support the Chief Accountant and Deputy Chief Accountant in managing the GLA’s accounting, taxation and exchequer services in the provision of expert financial services for the GLA and GLA subsidiaries. The role will lead a team providing support for the preparation of the annual accounts, giving high quality technical accounting advice when needed, help develop the GLAs financial systems and support the work of the in-house and external taxation advisory function.
To be suitable for the role you need to be a fully qualified accountant with significant experience of technical accounting in a large complex public sector organisation. Exposure to managing, maintaining and developing accounting and project management systems is highly desirable.
