The Deputy Schools Finance Manager reports to the Schools Finance Manager and manages a team of 5 providing strategic financial support across education funding and leading the non-traded element of the Schools Finance Team. The role will play a key role in advising Head Teachers and other senior stakeholders supporting sound decision-making across schools, early years provision and the wider Council, as well as attending Schools Forum. You will work on varied and high-profile areas including the Dedicated Schools Grant, High Needs funding, grant management, statutory returns and strategic projects.
To be suitable for the role you will need to be a fully qualified accountant with experience of providing a finance business partnering service within a local authority or academy trust. The ability to build effective relationships and challenge and influence stakeholders is essential, as is previous management or supervisory experience.
The Council offers a hybrid working environment with the expectation that employees are in the office 3 days per week.
