The Head of Finance – Close Down provides high-level advice and support to the Council, councillors and senior managers , being a technical expert for the Council. The role will take ownership of the non-capital side of the Statement of Accounts and lead on the engagement with the organisation’s external auditors. It is also tasked with identifying the national and local economic trends to drive through best practice within financial management.

To be suitable for the role, you need to be a fully qualified accountant or part qualified with a demonstrable plan to achieve full qualification within 9 months, with excellent technical accounting knowledge and the ability to translate complex financial information. Previous experience of producing annual accounts and liaising with External Auditor, ideally in a public sector setting, is essential.
