Do you want to be part of making London the best city in the world?
The Greater London Authority (GLA) is the centre of government for London, serving both the Mayor and the London Assembly. The Mayor of London sets the budget and is responsible for making London a better place for everyone and the Assembly holds the Mayor and Mayoral advisers to account. The GLA itself plays a key role in delivering projects across Greater London over areas including Housing, Transport, Environment, Culture, Economy and Regeneration.
Over the 18 months the finance team have been through a modernisation and expansion journey, which has left the team better placed to support the delivery of the amazing work the GLA does. We are now recruiting for the final two roles, both of which will be able to have a major impact across London and the people who live, work and travel there.
The Finance Business Partner will manage a small team supporting directorate leaders, including the Chief Officer, Chief Finance Officer and the Mayors Chief of Staff. They will ensure the achievement of strategic objectives through the provision of high-quality strategic finance advice, direction, insight and support. This includes multi-year horizon scanning, understanding of the position of the GLA as a whole, funding streams, and making appropriate connections between separate issues. They will be expected to influence and challenge strategic decisions and offer innovative financial solutions.
To be suitable for the role you need to be a fully qualified accountant with significant experience of providing financial advice and support in a large complex organisation. The ability to challenge and influence, as well as providing innovative solutions is essential.
GLA offers a hybrid working environment, with an expectation you are in the office 50% of the time.
